Autumn

šŸ‚It’s officially Autumn
Truly my thrive season
When I’m no longer at rock bottom

It’s when the leaves begin to turn
Mums are brought outšŸƒ
And everything is warm shades of gold and auburn

The temperature begins to drop
The days of Birkenstocks and sweatshirts
šŸAnd lattes from your favorite coffee shop

It’s the time of apple picking and eatingšŸ‚
Everything pumpkin
And kids out trick-or-treating

When you sit by the bonfire and pass moonshine
šŸƒTell hilarious stories with friends
And the s’mores made are always top of the line

Sweater weather is truly when I’m at my best
My peak season
When I’m just ridiculously happy and incredibly blessedšŸ

Reasons to be Happy

What are your reasons to be happy? Like REALLY think about it. What fills you to the brim with unadulterated joy? What gives you butterflies of glee? What makes you warm and tinglyĀ and just full of peace?

Well. I’ve decided to keep a running list of my Reasons to be Happy. I used to randomly blog a reason to be Ā happy but I think the running list approach is so much more satisfying. I find myself eager to add to it and way the list grow. And it’s here to share with all of you (assuming there is actually an all).

But I want you to really think about what I asked. What are your reasons to be Ā happy? It could be anything. The way the light touches glass just right and casts a rainbow in the room. The smell of fresh-baked cookies. Black coffee. But figure it out. Note it somewhere and hold on to it. It’s important to reference this list when you find that you aren’t happy. To read through it and even do some of the things on it. Because at the end of the day – we are only given one life to live. Let’s not completely fuck it up with things that don’t make us happy.

Confessions – 5th ed.

If you are just joining the shenanigans – I like to confess shit. Just put it out there. Kind of takes the weight off my shoulders and makes me feel just a little lighter. I’m a big girl so shedding even a little is a big help. You know? I strongly recommend it. What are your confessions?

  • I am officially one of those people who has an Instagram for their dogs. Yes – judge the shit of me because I don’t give a damn. It’s so much fun connecting with other pet accounts, pet brands, advocates and lovers. It’s an epic community and I am not ashamed to say I am part of it. Also – Alvin and Ollivander are wicked cute. So there’s that.
  • I LOVE LOVE LOVE FALL! I’m ready for sweaters, hoodies, scarves, Birkenstocks, fires and all the yummy comfort food that comes with it.
  • Fifth boss in ten months now at work. I am SO OVER IT. Keeping my head down and working but it’s hard. Moral is generally down. I’m doing my best to focus. We still have so much to execute on. Just because things aren’t going well doesn’t mean the work stops. I tend to welcome change because it’s a sign of progress but this much is difficult to keep my feet under me.

“Times is hard. And things are a changin’. I pray to God…” – John Legend, It Don’t Have to Change

  • I talk to myself. But frankly, sometimes I need the company.
  • Books have always been bae. However, as of late I am crushing it. I killed my goodreads reading challenge for 2016! And am still reading several more books because why not?! The Dayton Metro Library lets you check outĀ a bazillion books at a timeĀ – both physical copies and digital. It’s amazing! If you’re a local Daytonian and avid reader – make sure to join this library if you haven’t already. They have so many locations and their digital library is impressive.
  • I think I might wear my Potter/Weasley shirt everyday until this election is over. Because that’s how I feel about it.
  • We have a neighbor who thinks its okay to park their cars in front of our house even though they have plenty of room at theirs. This is not a smart way to make friends with me. You will be unsuccessful.
  • I like to play PokĆ©mon. Yes I’m grown. No I don’t care what you think. Major PokĆ© goals. MAJOR.
  • I am going to start Christmas shopping this weekend. There are only TEN weekends until Christmas. And four of those weekends we will be traveling. I am starting to PANIC!
  • I’m in this perpetual cycle of messy desk, clean desk, disaster desk, clean desk. It never ends.
  • Settling on an EC Life Planner is easily one of the biggest decisions of my year. It dictates how I plan for 365 days! And every time I think I have my mind made up, the woman comes out with another edition that only messes up everything I’ve concluded. So…I’m struggling. This is my vise. Also – if you don’t use an EC Life Planner – you are running your life wrong. I’m not sponsored or anything, I’m just right. Check them out!

  • Close talkers. I loath close talkers. If I can feel the heat of your nasty ass breath on me – you are too damn close. Back the fuck up! And why is there a need to get that close? I don’t understand it. Just stop.
  • I’m struggling through a book that MikeĀ suggested to me. In most cases – I would probably abandon ship and read something else. BUT I know if I don’t finish it he will never talk about books with me again. And I just can’t have that.
  • Sometimes I find being an adult entirely overrated and would give anything to be 10 again with zero responsibilities.
  • I will penny pinch, coupon, nickel and dime but I will never forego my pedicures. A girl has standards.
  • Soft boiled eggs are my new favorite thing!
  • I’m starting to get into the Romance genre. I recently read R.I.L.Y Forever by Norah Bennett and it ROCKED! If you haven’t grabbed Ā your copy – you need to read it. But what Romance authors or books do you really like? Just curious.
  • We are having several rooms in the house painted. TheyĀ needĀ it! But in all honesty – I don’t want to invest more in this house. I just want to buy a new house. 😦 I don’t think that’s in the cards for us… at least not for another three-ish years. Until then…
  • My Sophia broke her hand and we had to make tough parenting decisions about her going to gymnastics camp… well NOT going to gymnastics camp actually. Sometimes being a parent kind of stinks.
  • I drop my phone on my face sometimes – okay a lot – when I’m in bed. There – I admitted it. Abby from Twist Me Pretty (check out her blog – I adore her!) snapped this thing she was using called a Pop Socket. LIFE CHANGING!! I bought one and a clip for my car and it’s amazing. I got mine on Amazon but I think you get more options from their website. Check ’em out here!
  • School starts soon and we will have a big 5th grader! I’m excited for Soph! But completely and entirely dreading back to school shopping. I hate the mall. Everything about it. Ugh. Maybe I can teach her the perks of online shopping. šŸ™‚
  • We weren’t able to take a vacation this summer. No vacation till November. OMG. I might die between now and then. I DON’T THINK I AM GOING TO MAKE IT!!!

These are my confessions.

My favorite things – November 2015

These are a few of my favorite things from November that I just had to share.

App:Ā Spotify

UnknownI love my Spotify! I pay a small fee a month and can listen to all the music I want. AND – Spotify makes weekly mixes for me based on the music I’ve like and listen to. Also – they have new playlists for every day of the week and even by mood. I love Mood Booster Radio when I’m in a funk andĀ Deep FocusĀ when I’m working on a project at work.

Food:Ā Corn PuddingĀ

Have you ever had corn pudding at City BBQ? It’s so frickin’ delicious. It’s like corn bread meets bread pudding but not in a gross way. This Thanksgiving I didn’t just want to make plan ol’ corn so I found this easy recipe for corn pudding on a Taste of Home. The directions were easy and the dish turned out great! Definitely going to be making it again and again throughout the winter.

Game:Ā Mahjong

Totally retro, I know. But it’s relaxing and helps me clear my head sometimes when things are crazy. Great for a break at work or in the evening before bed. You can play online for free at the above link.

Household item:Ā Tide PodsĀ

I will never do my laundry without Tide Pods. I tried them a while ago because they were a A1-gOVqi2GL._SY355_better deal than my usual liquid Tide. I did the math in the aisle at Target and figured the pods were a better bang for my buck. Then I got home and used them – LIFE CHANGING. They are so easy and I can teach my kid to do laundry now since there is no pouring involved. AND they make my clothes smell AMAZING. I will forever be doing laundry because my crew is notorious for putting anything and everything in the hamper. Pretty sure I will die in the laundry room but Tide Pods make my life easier so I love them. PS. I’ve found that the best deal for these is at SAMs Club. You get 120 pods for $24.98 (see above link).

cover170x170Music:Ā 25 by AdeleĀ

“Hello. Can you hear me?”Ā I got that song stuck in your head, didn’t I? Who doesn’t love this woman? She’s amazing and her long awaited album is TO DIE FOR. If you don’t own this – go buy it now!

Store:Ā Ollie’s Bargin OutletĀ

Olliolliee’s is a better version of Big Lots – better brands, better prices. I’ve found the greatest little gifts for those random family members you have to buy for from there. And it’s all budget friendly and legit name brands. I think I’m going to go back and get teacher gifts from there too. Can’t beat a good deal!
